Harley Uddermeyer can no longer really be considered a strictly "local" artist:
his fame (or some say "infamy") has spread far beyong our cozy little county.
Yet he remains a hometown boy at heart.
We are truly lucky here at the SAM to be able to feature a selection of works inspired
by Harley's love for his birthplace, and completed during a recent trip
back.
Always prolific, Uddermayer had to put his creativity into overdrive,
and produce these twelve monumental works in a single day,
in order to be able to avoid certain local merchants who
had taken offense to his last local exhibition,
"Sheboygan, Sheboygan, nightmare or hallucination?"
And so we present "Sheboygan County Pastorale" in electronic form, with commentary by the artist

The lesson we should take from this is: Don't mess with what works. |
